The table below outlines how a pacs.008 message should be populated to comply with the Icon Standard.

When integrating with a scheme that includes a rule in the Scheme Specific Notes column you must follow both the Generic Notes and the relevant scheme-specific guidance. If you are using a scheme with no such rule listed, then you only need to follow the Generic Notes.

The cardinality shown in the Scheme Specific Notes column is for reference only and should not be used to build scheme-specific pacs.008 messages.

Address Details

While most address fields in a pacs.008 message are technically optional for many payment schemes, the European Union’s Payment Services Directive (PSD2) requires address details for cross-border payments within the EU.

As a best practice, clients should include complete debtor and creditor address information whenever available. The scheme packs will validate and enrich the data as needed to meet the requirements of each specific scheme and beneficiary institution.
